Side Effects of Standard Acne Treatments

Like medicated acne-scrubs & benzoyl peroxide ointments may be
  • excessive dry skin
  • rashes on sensitive skin
  • eczema
  • patches of irritated dry skin
  • According to some studies benzoyl peroxide may encourage the formation of free radicals, which may potentially lead to older looking skin or formation of malignant tumors.
Side Effects of Antibiotics & other Prescription Treatments

  • rashes like hives
  • GI problems like indigestion
  • Another powerful acne treatment, known as Isotretinoin, can cause headaches, muscle & joint pain, and occasional hair loss.

Since acne is largely caused by hormones associated with puberty, altering hormones can be an effective way to reduce breakouts with some side effects including:

  • changes in disposition or mood swings
